I've had the best summer ever, thanks to a bunch of fabulous family trips. Exhibit A: That's me doing tree among the trees in Colorado. I'm happy to be home but it sure was hard to leaf (heh heh heh...)
Full Disclosure - I fell off my platform right after this was taken. I am eager, if not athletic.
Calling all Vero friends (and, you know, anyone else with kids who lives nearby)...
I am signing books and cooking up lobster crafts for Lucy Loves Sherman this Friday at the fabulous
Vero Beach Book Center's
10:30 am story hour.
So take a break from the heat and swim on over - blub, blub!
And I also love my agent, and my editor, and my illustrator and my critique partners and diet coke and macaroni and cheese and mexican food and everything and everybody and why am I so loved up right now? Because I get to kick off the Summer with EVEN MORE more great news. I sold the sequel LUCY LOVES SHERMAN! As reported in Publisher's Marketplace: "LUCY LOVES SHERMAN author Catherine Bailey's LUCY LOVES SHERMAN'S BEACH, about a little girl with big ideas who discovers a pollution problem at her best friend's beach, but will her clever plans be enough to turn the tide, illustrated by Meg Walters, to Nicole Frail at Sky Pony Press, by Kathleen Rushall at Andrea Brown Literary Agency (World)."
I mean literally. This is what I am going to put in my body as a meal (well, not the WHOLE bottle...) while my children dine on butter pasta. Thank you so much to my amazing agent Kathleen, the wonderful folks at Disney-Hyperion, and my crit partners. I want to bear hug you all! Actually I want to bear hug strangers at this point.
(Sidebar: Okay so I googled bear hug and found this and I had to share it because it is what my heart feels like. Plus I can just picture me and my Toblerone bar all nestled up in there.)
This year I was lucky enough to be invited to join April Is For Authors. This group not only puts on a fun, exciting event for readers and authors - but they also connect schools with visiting authors (and ya'll know that's my jam!) And best of all I met some amazing fellow kidlitters like Jen Swanson and Stacy McAnulty. I'm 96% sure I left a pair of flip flops in the hotel and it's still my favorite conference ever.
This is one of my favorite recipes - Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies. You can find the "how to" here - as well as a behind the scenes peek at my office space - in this delightful and delicious interview :)
LUCY LOVES SHERMAN was recently reviewed by the talented Miss Vivian Kirkfield, and I am so excited that she liked it! when I read her article, I was all, like,...
She made wonderful comments like "love books that make me laugh and cry…and this one does both. So funny and so sweet!" - and she includes tips for making an ADORABLE lobster craft project. Thank you Vivian!
And we have a winner! Congratulations to Jennifer Dierolf Trent (aka slpreppy) who posted a comment over on my Instagram page! Thank you. I can't wait to get these in the mail to you (with a note from Sherman of course...)
Calling all lobster-lovers, book-a-holics, kids, and caregivers - you are invited to the launch party for my third book, LUCY LOVES SHERMAN, on April 1 at the Jensen Beach Barnes & Noble at 11:30am.
There will be a reading, signing, crafts, and most importantly an awesome gift basket giveaway. (Not to brag but my gift baskets are kind of amazing. Ok I'm bragging. But I am really excited about this one!!)
Thank you to the Junior League of Martin County for the opportunity to be one of your sponsors at this year's fabulous Luna Fest! And yes, there are invites to my book launch and in all 500 of those goody bags!

I simply adore the website and critique service at RATE MY STORY, and so of course I was super flattered when they asked me to write an article for their newsletter. You can read the full article here:
